Financial assistance like Marriage Grant, Ex- gratia Grant, Blind Grant, Medical After Care Grant, Self-employment Training for ex-servicemen etc. are provided by Sainik Welfare Department.
1. State Military Benevolent Fund/ District Military Benevolent Fund
Financial assistance of Rs. 8,000/- to Rs. 10,000/- from State Military Benevolent Fund and Rs. 6,000/- to 7,000/- from District Military Benevolent Fund are provided to ex-servicemen subject to eligibility. Income limit Rs 2 Lakhs
2. Marriage Grant
As per the scheme, 25,000/- is provided as grant for marriage of each of the two daughters of ex-servicemen. Annual income limit should be less than Rs. 500,000/-.
3. Immediate financial assistance
Immediate financial assistance of Rs.50,000/- and Rs.20,000/- is provided to ex-servicemen and their dependents considering immediate necessities. Financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 from SMBF is sanctioned by the Chief Minister and Rs. 20,000 by the Director of the Sainik Welfare Department.
Rs. 10,000/- and Rs. 5,000/- are sanctioned at the district level by District Collectors and District Sainik Welfare Officers respectively.
4. Ex gratia grant
A financial assistance of 10,000/- is sanctioned to immediate dependents (widow/ unmarried daughter/ minor son) on the demise of a veteran.
5. Monthly financial assistance for blind veterans
An amount of Rs. 2,000/- and Rs. 4,000/- is provided to Pensioners and Non-Pensioners respectively. This monthly allowance is eligible to 100 percent blind ex-servicemen/ blind spouse/ widow/ dependent children of ex-servicemen.
6. Financial assistance to mentally challenged children
Financial assistance of Rs. 3,000/- per month (annual income limit should be less than Rs.500,000/-) is provided to mentally challenged children of ex-servicemen (I.Q below 40).
7. Monthly financial assistance for physically challenged children
Under the scheme, Rs. 3,000/- per month is provided to physically challenged children of ex-servicemen, with disability not less than 40%. (Annual income limit should be less than Rs.500,000/-)
8. Pocket money
As per the scheme, a monthly grant of Rs. 2,000/- per month is provided to ex-servicemen and widows of ex-servicemen who are inmates of Tuberculosis/ Leprosy Hospitals. Mosquito nets are also provided to them free of charge. Also, a special allowance of Rs.2,000/- is given to them for Onam celebration.
9. Medical After Care Grant
For ex-servicemen suffering from diseases like Tuberculosis and Leprosy, a monthly grant of Rs.1,500/- is provided for follow-up care from SMBF for three years, unless medical care grant from Indian Red Cross Society is not availed.
10. Financial assistance to inmates of Paraplegic Centres
Through the scheme, a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,000/- is provided to ex-servicemen who are inmates of Paraplegic Rehabilitations Centre, Pune. In addition to this, as travel allowance, sleeper class charges are provided to one of their next of kin for visiting them once a year.
11. Free Supply of Sewing Machine
SMBF will provide one sewing machine each as a measure of self employment and welfare to Ex-Servicemen who are Tailors by trade and widows of Jawans who died in action /harness and widows of Ex-Servicemen in accordance with SMBF rules. Annual income limit should be below Rs.1,50,000/-.
12. Cash Award to SSLC,CBSE,ICSE Top Scorers
A cash award of Rs.3,000/- and Rs.5,000/- respectively is given to the children of Ex-servicemen who secure A+/A1 in all subjects (State/ CBSE / ICSE Syllabus) for Class 10th and +2 examinations .
13. Grant for repairing of dwelling huts
Ex-servicemen/ widows will be given a one-time grant of Rs.40,000/- for repairing dwelling huts, whose annual income is less than Rs.400,000/-.
14. Medical After Care Grant(Cancer)
Under the scheme, a monthly grant of Rs. 1,500/- is provided to ex-servicemen, widows/ wives/ dependent children of ex-servicemen undergoing cancer treatment for one year. For those who are not under the payroll of pension scheme and other benefits are provided with Rs. 3,000/- for a period of 2 years.
15. Embroidery machine for ex-servicemen, wives and widows
1. The SMBF will provide one embroidery machine to unemployed ex-servicemen, wives and widows. Annual income limit is Rs.150,000/-.
16. Financial assistance to the children of ex-servicemen for coaching classes
An amount of Rs. 35,000/- is provided to children of ex-servicemen for various competitive exam coaching classes like SET, NET, JRF, KWA, CA, KAS and Civil Services Exam etc. Those whose annual family income is below Rs. 4,00,000/- are eligible for this one time financial assistance.
17.Self-employment Training for ex-servicemen
A district level vocational training is given to ex-servicemen for those who want to start self-employment ventures. Maximum amount Rs.10,000/- or actual fee whichever is less.
18. Financial Assistance for appearing in the competitive examination and facing the interview board
In order to help the Ex-servicemen and their dependants who are appearing for competitive exams and facing interview Boards a sum of Rs 10,000/-or actual fees whichever is less shall be provided.
19. Computer training for ex-servicemen
Training is provided at the district level to ex-servicemen to impart computer knowledge.
20. Financial Assistance to kidney patients for Dialysis
Under the scheme, a sum of Rs. 1000/- per dialysis upto a maximum of Rs.30,000/-is given to Ex-servicemen/ widows of Ex-servicemen/ dependents.
21. Awareness program at district/ taluk levels
With an aim to create awareness among the ex-servicemen and their widows by Central/ State Governments on various welfare and self-employment schemes implemented, Department of Sainik Welfare organizes seminars/ camps annually at district/ taluk level. Notification will be circulated through the media.
22. Medical After Care (AIDS) Grant
A monthly allowance of Rs.1,500/- is provided as AIDS Grant to ESM/Wife/Widow/dependent children.
