Employment Assistance

 

  1. Dependents of soldiers/ paramilitary soldiers who died/ disabled in war or war-like conditions will be given employment in State Government service liable to certain conditions. (The appointment is made by the Department of Sainik Welfare).
  2. Ex-servicemen who have already enrolled at District Sainik Welfare Offices will be nominated for employment.
  3. The following posts are reserved for ex-servicemen in government departments.
  4. All Posts in the Sainik Welfare Department
  5. Civilian Posts in NCC
  6. Police Constable Driver 10%

RESERVATION OF SEATS IN MEDICAL/DENTAL/ENGINEERING COLLEGES AGAINST DEFENCE QUOTA

Government of India has reserved 28 seats for MBBS and 01 seat for BDS all over the country and some seats for Engineering courses in Annamalai University for sons, daughters and wives of Defence personnel covered under the following categories as Government of India nominees (Order of priority is as below.

There are 28 seats in Medical Colleges, one seat in Dental College and one seat each in Civil and Structural Engineering in Engineering College, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu.

The following categories (priority written against each) of dependants, i.e., sons/ daughters/ wives/ widows of service personnel are eligible to apply:

The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least 50% marks in aggregate for MBBS/BDS courses and for the Engineering courses the candidate must have passed similar examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics securing 75% and above marks in the aggregate.

There is no written examination for selection of the candidates. The candidates are shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The selected candidates are nominated to the colleges as per the final merit list prepared by Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) and preference exercised by the candidate subject to availability of seats.

The candidate may obtain application forms for admission against reserved seats from Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, West Block-IV, RK Puram, New Delhi – 110 066. SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES (SIMS)

TWO YEAR FULL TIME MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) – Dual Specialization : 2 Divisions
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-PM & HRD) – Specialization in Personnel All the students have to undergo compulsory training module in IT conducted jointly by SIMS and NIIT, leading towards award of “Diploma in Information and System Management (DISM)”.

Eligibility

  • Open to all graduate children/dependants (with minimum 50% marks from a recognized university) of serving/ex-servicemen from Army, Air Force and the Navy.
  • And those appearing for the final Year Degree Examination by June 2001 may also apply provisionally.
  • Seats are available for industry sponsored candidates who may/may not be dependants of defense personnel. Any graduate with minimum 50% marks can be sponsored by a company.

Admission allotment

  • Open Merit: 80% of vacancies for the full-time, two-year courses offered by SIMS, shall be allotted to Defence Personnel and their dependants only, on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination, and strictly on merit.
  • Special Reservation: SIMS management shall allot 10% of vacancies for Defence Personnel and their Dependants, in consultation with Headquarters, Southern Command. This discretionary quota will cater for son/daughter of Defence Personnel who :

a) Killed action (war, counter insurgency, or war-like operation).
b) Disabled in action (war, counter insurgency or war-like operation) with more than 50% disability.
c) Next to kin of service personnel who died while in service, death being attributable to military service.

  • Industry Sponsored Seats: 10% seats are reserved for Industry Sponsored candidates (any citizen) who may/may not be dependants of Defence Personnel.

Entrance Exam Centres:

Ambala, Bangalore, Calcutta, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jammu, Lucknow and Pune. (Institute reserves the right to cancel any of these centers). Entrance Exams will usually be held in the month of May/June.

Any Defence Officer desirous of proceeding on Study Leave may apply for the above mentioned courses. SIMS is an approved Institute by the Army Headquarters.

Reservation for Employment

(i)

All Posts/Recruitments in the Department of Sainik Welfare (after 1-3-1964) are exclusively reserved for Ex-Servicemen

(ii)

Civilian posts in the N.C.C. Departments are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.

(iii)

10% of Vacancies for the post of Livestock Inspectors in the Animal Husbandry Department through Direct Recruitment are reserved for the Ex-Servicemen personnel, their dependents and also to the dependants of serving personnel.

(iv)

The post of sergeants in Various Departments of the state are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.

(v)

10% of the vacancies are reserved to wives and children of Jawans for appointment as female wardens, Hospital cleaners and Ayahs.

(vi)

10% of the vacancies to the post of Police Constable Drivers reserved to Ex-Servicemen (Conditions apply)

(viii)

Concessions are granted to Ex-Servicemen by the PSC for the Recruitment to the post of Excise Inspector:

  • Relaxation of educational qualification from degree S.S.L.C

  • Relaxation of physical standard for the post of Excise Inspector

  • Weightage is granted by the PSC to Ex-Servicemen candidates according to their length of service, gallantry awards.

  • Priority for sponsoring through Employment Exchanges.

  • If all other things are equal (qualifications, marks etc.) the Ex-Servicemen will be given preference in the matter of recruitment (Through PSC) to the Government service

  • If all other things are equal, wives (Defence Personnel) of Jawan are given preference to the post of teacher in recruitment through PSC.

  • Aided Schools-protected teacher-redeployment-close relatives of Jawans will be permitted to continue in the same school.

  • Preference is given to Ex-Servicemen for Direct Recruitment to the following Posts:

  1. Foresters and Forest Guards Grade-II in the Forest Department and Second Grade in the Wild Life Department

  2. Amin in the Judicial Department.

  3. Security Posts in the Home Guards.

Age Relaxation/ Concession

Ex-Servicemen are given exemption from age bar.

State Government-Military service plus period of unemployment after discharge from the Armed Forces up to a maximum of 5 years.

Employment Assistance from State Government to the dependants of jawans killed/ disabled/ missing in action:

Government of Kerala provides employment assistance in the State service to the dependents of the defence personnel and GREF/BSF personnel attached to military duty killed/disabled/missing due to reasons attributable to military service.

Eligibility:

  1. One dependents are eligible for employment assistance.

  2. Priority is Wife/Husband/Son/Daughter/Unmarried brother/Unmarried sister.

  3. Age relaxation as per rules.

  4. To be applied within 3 years of death/missing/disability. In case of minor to be applied within 3 years of majority.

Employment: Teacher Post-preference to wives of Jawan

  • Wives of Jawans of Defence forces will be given preference in the matter of recruitment (through PSC) as teacher when all other things are equal.

  • Age concessions of 10 years over and above the existing age limits allowed to relatives and dependents of Jawans killed in action etc. for recruitment through Employment Exchange
