1. What should an ex-serviceman do with the district office immediately after retiring?

Registration
(a) For employment
(b) For Identity Card

2. What documents need to be produced for a new identity card?

(a) Certificate of discharge (b) 3 photos (c) Pension Book (PPO)

3. What documents need to be submitted as part of employment registration?

(a) Certificate of discharge
(b) Certificate to prove educational qualification
(c) Other related certificates like trade certificate, work experience etc.

4. What services are provided for ex-servicemen who require rehabilitation training by the Sainik Welfare Department?

Computer courses, training sessions for driving and coaching classes for Public Service Commission examinations and bank recruitment examinations are provided to ex-servicemen who need rehabilitation training as per their educational qualification. Also for ex-servicemen and their dependents, technical and vocational courses are organized in various institutions through the District Sainik Welfare Offices. As per the existing system, a maximum of Rs. 30,000/- per person is allotted by this department.

5. What services are provided by the Military Welfare Department to find self employment?

In addition to rehabilitation training, the Department of Sainik Welfare also provides one-time subsidized loans of up to Rs. 1 lakh.

6. Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS)

The Prime Minister’s Scholarship is awarded to widows and dependent children of ex-servicemen for admission to professional degree courses. Selected boys and girls will be paid Rs. 2, 500/- and Rs. 3,000/- per month respectively. Must have 60% marks in Basic Eligibility Test. Only those who secure not less than 50% marks in the examination in professional courses every year, if selected, will get this benefit thereafter. The application can be submitted through the official website of Kendriya Sainik Board (www.ksb.gov.in).
